

In May a team of the LIFE project “LAND for LIFE” together with representatives of Doğa Derneği, the partner of BirdLife International Turkey, visited all known nests of Imperial Eagles in European Turkey.
During the monitoring were identified 34 occupied territories and was found new nest in the area of Istanbul. With it the known nests of the species in this part of Turkey became 47.
The population of the Imperial eagle in the country is still growing. In at least 5 territories are identified birds. The total estimate of the species population in Turkey is currently about 60 pairs.
At the end of June, the occupied territories will be re-monitored to identify breeding successes for this year.
