On October 3 (Saturday) we will celebrate the EuroBirdwatch 2020 with bird watching in South Park, Sofia. Come and see together some of the 65 bird species found here. Apart from them, an emblematic species will also be in the focus of the event - the Imperial Eagle. Each visitor will learn more about the species, the threats it faces, and its conservation activities within the LIFE project "LAND for LIFE".
The event will take place from 10:00 to 14:00 and each group will be accompanied by a guide. To secure a place, you can book in advance here.
For the 27th time in a row, BirdLife International invites people from Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia to enjoy the miracle of bird migration on October 3rd and 4th. Millions of migratory birds will leave Europe this week, heading to their wintering grounds in Africa. During migration, birds cover thousands of kilometers and go through many dangers along their air routes. The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB), as a partner of BirdLife International, invites everyone to join the celebrations of the EuroBirdwatch20 and to discover the exciting world of the birds and the charm of the migration. Here you can find out more about all the events that will take place in the country.
EuroBirdwatch is one of the largest international events, organized since 1993, and in 26 years it has been attended by more than 1 million people who have observed more than 75 million birds. The main purpose of this 27-year tradition is to raise awareness of one of the most dangerous events in the life of the birds - their migration, which is accompanied by countless threatening factors.
